My younger sister is going to give birth to her second baby sometime next month. I threw her first baby shower three and a half years ago. Since then, I threw my friend Rachel’s, my friend Heather’s, and I even threw my own last year! My sister wanted a co-ed BBQ like I did last year. I prefer it that way, some guests don’t know anyone other than the woman we are showering. This way, everyone is guaranteed to know at least one more person. We played a TON of games ranging from writing answers on paper to blindfolded diaper changing to (my personal favorite) chocolate poopy diapers — you melt different chocolates on diapers and people have to guess what kind of chocolates they are. The seasoned mom’s are sticking their fingers in and taste testing!! It’s disgusting and awesome to see the reactions. I made lots of cupcakes, my mother in law made her an amazing diaper cake as a great focal point for the gift table. I took three pictures in total. So I’m waiting for her to upload hers. My almost four year old keeps telling me how much fun she had at the “baby birthday”. Party success.
Hello! I’m here because I need some help. We are all (minus the baby) heading out for our first camping trip for the three of us! My hubs and I are taking our almost four year old daughter tent camping. There isn’t plumbing for the bathroom or anything. It’s near a river. I’ll be so riddled with anxiety that I won’t be taking my eyes off of her. So I need any tips/tricks/hints for camping with littles!!! Then I’ll be able to compile a list and put them to a test.
If you have any sort of mental illness, raise your hand and say HAAAAY!!! Raise two hands if you’re diagnosed with more than one 🙆🏽 That is supposed to be me with two hands up…….. anyway. I’m diagnosed with anxiety and depression. I’m sure I was even before I wa diagnosed. But it was after my first born that I found out. Some days are easier than others. Some days I’m up and ready to go. Ready to put all my energy into my kids and make awesome meals and everyone gets a bath and the laundry and dishes are all done and I had brushed my hair that that! And other days I dread passing a mirror, I don’t want to move off the couch, the dishes look over my head and my kids both seem extra whiny. Funny how having kids makes you get up and move your ass anyway. Even if it feels like only 10% is being done. I prefer the days when my hubby and I both rush around cleaning the house and I feel like our home is somewhat presentable while still letting my two littles have a good time. I try to not let them suffer while I am. They are happy kids, good kids.
Im straying. Back to stigmas on mental illness. When I read friends or stories about people going through any sort of mental illness, I hurt if they hurt. So when I try to build them up, to let them know it’s ok and other people are there too, that it doesn’t always get better but you’re ready for the next bad day. It is still hard sometimes to open up and be honest about my problems. I’m not trying to blow off plans with anyone because I don’t want to see them. It’s because I just can’t. And even if I were to explain, some people still won’t get it. Some people can feel depressed, and some are clinically depressed.
I haven’t exactly been searching the internet for get rich quick schemes, but I HAVE been looking for ways to earn some extra income. My new favorite is an app on your phone! It’s easy as taking two pictures and being done. Interested to know more? Of course you are. Download Job Spotter on your phone. It’s through the Indeed job site. I’ve even scored some jobs there in the past! Anyway, download the app and when you’re all set up you can go find “help wanted” signs on the doors and windows of businesses. The smaller the business, the better the reward. When I started, I made the mistake of going to a shopping center with big stores and didn’t earn too much. BUT it’s better than nothing. It won’t make you rich, but if you’re an individual who is out and about often, this would be easy. And even though they pay in gift cards, you CAN trade gift cards for cash, if you need the money that way. You can thank me later.
I consider ourselves so blessed that my hubby and I both get to work from home. We even get to choose when and how much we work. We manage a manufactured home park and live on site. It’s a blessing and a curse, but I’ll save that for another post soon. I consider myself a stay at home mom. We don’t seem to have much of a routine. The closest thing I can think of to having a routine is working off my eight month old’s sleep/nap/bottle/eat thing he does each day. We are up between 7-8am andhave a bottle than breakfast. Naptime is around 11am for an hour or so and wake up for more food and bottle. Second nap comes (usually) around 3pm following more food and drink. And ending with another bottle and a snuggle before the seemingly never ending bedtime battle. I should have some more daily things planned, especially something for my three year old. What sort of routine do you have with your kid? Do you follow it strict or however the day comes along?
My almost 9 month old son slept through the night in his crib two nights in a row. I figured, “wow! This was easy!”, so I bragged to my mom about how my precious baby is growing up. Then last night comes…. he went to bed with a little fight. Then was awake at 1am, 2am, 3am for an hour!!!!!! Then again at 5am and I caved and brought him into bed with me. I’m exhausted.
I just had to vacuum the whole living room after I found my 9 month old with a mouth full of flamin hot cheetos!!! Thanks hubby 😉
Who out there jumped on the crib training band wagon WAY TOO LATE like I did? My daughter co slept until her second birthday. Parenting is easier with just one baby. But with a three year old AND a baby, I needed sleep. I tried to hop on the “let him cry it out for a bit but ultimately let him fall asleep happy”. The last two nights he has been in his crib all night, rather than being pulled into bed with me in the wee hours of the morning. Night before last, I think he woke up four times but took a binky and fell back asleep. Last night he was only up once, but today I feel exhausted as I was when I was worried about co sleeping all night. I napped during baby’s second nap today. Please tell me I’m not the only one!! Did you co sleep or crib train (or both!)?
Did you all have a great Easter this year? My family sure did. We celebrated at my grandmother’s house. My daughter and neice who are the same age had a great time hunting for eggs. We had a big dinner. I had made ten pounds of mashed potatoes and mini strawberry cheeesecake with pb m&m’s eggs on top. Here’s how I made it.
Pink mini strawberry cheesecake
I used one box of strawberry cake mix for two boxes of instant cheesecake mix and made everything according to the directions for the cheesecake. I piped it over the crust and added the peanut butter eggs on top! I had a pretty great time telling everyone it’s strawberry cheese cake with eggs on top! Next time I’ll use WAY less cake mix or find a better ratio. Have you ever failed a dessert but brought it anyway?

Between the stress of being a mom, my anxiety and depression that rears it’s ugly head more than I care to admit. While being pregnant I have great nails. When I get to do upkeep at a salon I have great nails. But for the months after I have a baby, I never have great nails. I don’t even have decent nails! I have yucky garbage nails because I can’t stop messing with them. I don’t have as much time do to them myself at home because my 8 month baby is standing assisted on EVERYTHING! I wish I had the skill to do acrylics at home. The mixture of the two is so potent though. I usually just stick to at home gel manis, but not when they are this short. Do you do your nails at home? What is your preferred preference?
